To set up your wireless network, you’ll need a system that meets the following requirements:
- Ethernet LAN port, installed TCP/IP service, web browser such as IE, Firefox, Safari and Chrome.
- Use a wired connection when setting up your wireless router so you can avoid possible setup issues.
- Before setting up your Asus wireless router, disconnect any existing router from the network. Also, disconnect the cables and any wires from the existing modem setup.
Once you have done that, you can follow the steps as mentioned:
- Plug your ASUS RT-AX82U wireless router into a power outlet and power it on. Connect the network cable from your computer to a LAN port on your router.
- The web login wizard will launch automatically when you open a web browser. If it doesn’t, you can also use the web address https://router.asus.com or the IP address 192.68.0.1.
- From the navigation panel, go to General and then click on the Network Map.
- On this screen, under the System Status section, you can configure the wireless security settings such as SSID, security level and encryption settings.
- On the wireless name (SSID) field, key in a unique name for your wireless network.
- From the WEP encryption dropdown list, select the encryption method WPA2PSK. Key in your security passkey and click on the “Apply” button once done.
The final setup page will show you a summary of the network settings you have just configured. Once you have reviewed the settings, you can proceed with closing the setup wizard. The ASUS Gaming Router Setup process is now complete and you can connect your devices to the router network.
Connecting to the ASUS RT-AX82U network
- On your computer, click on the “network” icon in the notification area to display the available wireless networks.
- Select the wireless network which you want to connect to and then click on the “Connect” button.
- You can key in the network security key for the secured wireless network and then click on the OK button.
The computer will show you the status of the network connection in the task bar itself.
